Our Story
The Sunflower Nation Bright Futures Foundation is a scholarship fund established as an extension of the Sunflower Nation Leadership Coaching Firm. Sunflower Nation is dedicated to empowering individuals through professional development, helping them advance their careers, and supporting organizations with specialized training, coaching, and workshops.
Founded by cancer survivor Dr. Edith C. Banks, the foundation was inspired by a personal journey of resilience, hope, and the belief that every individual deserves the opportunity to pursue their dreams. After overcoming cancer, Dr. Banks committed herself to creating opportunities that help others overcome barriers and achieve their full potential.
The Bright Futures Scholarship Fund provides financial assistance to students pursuing higher education who may face financial hardships. Managed by a dedicated Board of Directors, the foundation ensures responsible financial oversight and actively develops fundraising opportunities to expand its impact. Scholarships are awarded annually to deserving students, helping them achieve their academic, professional, and leadership aspirations.
At its core, the foundation exists to transform adversity into opportunity by investing in students, supporting educational achievement, and helping future leaders build brighter futures.
